Mummy brings the blog up to date!!!

Since I last managed to get on the computer to do this an awful lot has happened!! Jon has gone back to work which has brought with it many highs and lows ( to be expected I suppose). I've got over a week to talk about so excuse the long blog.

Since the 13th May we have been invited to a Hindu Wedding in Wembley, Joshua was very good while I went and got measured for my outfit ( bright pink with lots of crystals - not sure how baby friendly it will prove to be). We have booked a hotel near the wedding for Saturday and Sunday the 9th and 10th of June, we are travelling to croydon on the Thursday before and are hoping to catch up with as many people as possible.

Great Nanny and Grandad came over to visit on Thursday the 18th May with Grandma, we had a lovely day and got some nice photos.

Joshua got a very sore bum and developed an allergy to Pampers nappies. We were told not to put water or cotton wool near him and dry his bum either by blowing or with a hairdryer!!! As you can imagine with a little boy this has resulted in a few close calls in the weeing department. We are waiting for some "real" nappies to arrive to see if they are kinder on his skin.

As Jon has written below the weekend of my birthday and Joshua's thanksgiving was good but hectic!! We had an unsettled day Monday which I think is largely due to the overactivity at the weekend. We have been discharged from the midwife as Joshua is gaining weight nicely and the health visitor came on Monday. Joshua has his first jabs on the 26th June ( our wedding anniversary) so we hope it doesn't upset him too much.

On Tuesday we went to baby group and met some more little babies, there is no group next week but we have arranged to meet up and do something with a couple of the mums. Wednesday we went over to my work to see my GP trainee group of friends and then on to Leeds to see Great Granny and Grandpa G, Great Aunty Jane and Aunty Emily (who is going to be my godmother). We had a lovely afternoon, we went for a walk with Joshua in Jane's old silver cross pram. I had to get used to the fact that the wheels don't swivel, there is no head support and the suspension os so bouncy his little head was wobbling away!!! As Jane said Emily and Edward are both ok so it just goes to show how much we have on our pram that is unecessary!!! No photos as yet as I forgot the camera, Great Grandpa has them on his film camera so we will get them soon.

Yesterday Grandma came with our friend Mary, Joshua had wind from the cauliflower cheese as Jon mentioned but otherwise we had a good day. Joshua got turned away from a pub as under 14's could only go in if eating a meal, despite the fact that we were eating and I'm feeding him we still weren't allowed to stay so we ended up in Pizza Hut.

At the moment Joshua is fast asleep, we are waiting for Great Aunty Sue, Sarah and Chloe to arrive. We will try and keep up to date from now on to save on long blogs.

Love to all

Thanksgiving

It was my Thanks giving service at the Church where Mummy & Daddy got married last Sunday. Granny & Grandpa (back from holiday) and Auntie Emma came up to Sheffield on the train on the Saturday and Grandma & Grandad and Uncle Julian came over from Skegness on the Sunday.

I was very good and slept all the way through the service and whilst everyone had lunch afterwards. I really enjoyed the day as I ot to be the centre of attention all day. After all the family left some of Mummy & Daddy's friends came round to have cake for Mummy's birthday (quite how they managed to eat any after the big lunch they had I don't know!). Even better I got even more cuddles! I also got some more presents and it wasn't even my birthday!

Grandpa found some pictures from when Daddy was little - can you tell who is who?

This week I've had my first feed of Mummy's milk from a bottle so now Daddy can help feed me as well! Mummy & Daddy have had meals from the nice ladies at the baby & toddler group for the last 2 weeks, although the last meal has just arrived! They have all been delicious although the cauliflower cheese Mummy had yesterday did give me wind! I think they will get a shock next week when they have to start cooking again!

I need to go now as its time for a sleep.

Daddys' first day at work (and mummys' first blog)

After 17 days at home with mummy and me since I came along daddy has gone back to work today. He needs to earn lots of pennies so mummy can stay at home with me until next year!!! I have been fairly good for them overnight, they both got 6 -7 hours sleep in 2 chunks. Mummy got up before daddy and had her shower, she spent ages washing and cleaning the house so that it was tidy when I woke up ( I don't care but it keeps her busy!!). We put out breakfast for daddy, hope he doesn't expect this every day, and gave him a photo for his desk as well as a message in his lunch bag!!

I think mummy is trying to be brave today, I pretended not to wake up when daddy left but I saw them crying out of the corner of my eye!!

Hopefully daddy will be back on time, I think mummy will be cross if he isn't. We are going to baby and toddler group and then Emma is coming with baby hannah.

The pictures are still on picasa but mummy isn't clever enough yet to put the link in this blog so please look below.

Lots of Love

Joshua ( ps daddy if you see this I miss you)

I'm Official!

Well I've now been officially registered- Mummy & Daddy took me to the town hall to register me on Thursday and I now have my own birth certificate.

As for the rest of the week it has been pretty busy. We went shopping at Meadowhall on Monday - it was a bit boring having to go round all the shops (especially Mummy's clothes shops!) but Mothercare was good and they have a very fancy feeding room. I used some of my money to buy some new books to read.

Daddy was supposed to be playing cricket on Wednesday night so Mummy took me shopping again!! We went to the big Mothercare at Crystal Peaks where Mummy got lost in the retail park and had to ring Anna for directions! I also got to try out the trolley at the posh supermarket!

On Thursday I was registered and then we went to see some of Daddy's work colleagues who all thought I looked like him.

Yesterday, Mummy took me shopping (again!) and also to open my own bank accounts so I can save all my money. The nice lady at Daddy's bank also let me have a feed in one of the offices! All was going well until Mummy struggled to get out of the car park. Finally after an hour and going up and down in the lift and up and down the stairs we finally managed to get out. The nice man took pity on Mummy and let her go without paying!

Today we have been to see the sculptures at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. I sat in the back of the car with Roxie, who was very good and made sure I was ok all the way.

We had a picnic and a walk round before coming home.

Daddy is back at work on Tuesday, I think he is having to earn some pennies to pay for all my nappies! The nice ladies at the baby group Mummy & I go to are bringing round dinner for Mummy & Daddy everyday next week so Muumy doesn't have to do any cooking. I think Mummy has been planning what we are going to be doing and has been looking at all the different activities we can go to.

Granny, Grandpa, Grandma, Grandad, Uncle Julian & Auntie Emma are all coming next weekend so there will be plenty of people for cuddles and to change my nappy. I'll try and makesure I don't wee on them, as I did all over Mummy's new top just before we went out today! I don't think she was very happy (luckily Daddy got the blame despite being downstairs loading the car at the time!)

Thank you for the emails and presents - I've made sure Daddy has put some more pictures at http://picasaweb.google.com/jongillgrass

See you all soon

Love

My First Week (and my first blog!)

Hello everyone,

Well its been a busy old week since I arrived last Sunday. Not only have I met lots of family and friends, I have had to fit in going to Tescos twice, visiting the park and going to a BBQ. Daddy has been showing me how to surf the internet (I like www.babyeinstein.com the best!) and I have set up my own email address joshuagillgrass@googlemail.com (so you can all keep in touch with me)

Mummy has been watching the snooker with me at feeding time and I watched some of the football with Daddy yesterday. I've not decided which team I am going to support yet. I've also discovered the baby channel on Sky, to watch in between all the sport, as this saves having to watch all Mummy's reality TV shows!

Mummy has been dressing me up in lots of different outfits (and then washing them when I am sick on them!) and taking hundreds of photos in between feeds and arranging all the lovely flowers.

Roxie dog has been very good and likes to lie at the bottom of my basket when I am asleep downstairs. She keeps trying to peek in to check I am OK but isn't quite tall enough!

Grandma, Grandad and Uncle Julian visited on Thursday and Great Granny & Grandpa on Wednesday. Granny & Grandpa are still on holiday in Antigua but I know they have been looking at all the pictures clever Daddy has put on the internet. They are coming to Sheffield, with Auntie Emma, to visit in 2 weeks time when they get back from holiday.

Thank you to everyone for all the lovely presents I am looking forward to playing with / wearing them / spending it. Mummy loves all the really nice flowers people have sent and has put them all over the house. I think I will have to keep reminding her to water them though!

I am off to be officially registered on Thursday and get my birth certificate and I'm sure I will get to meet more of the family this week as well.

Must go now as I think I need a clean nappy and it's nearly time for lunch.

Thanks again for all my presents - Daddy is uploading all the photographs to http://picasaweb.google.com/jongillgrass for you all to see.

See you all soon
Love

Joshua
